Hey folks,
I’ve been wanting to share my journey of getting into cloud computing, and especially Amazon Web Services, for a while now. Over the past couple of months, I’ve been diving deep into AWS, and I finally completed a certification program here in Pune. If you’re like me — trying to switch careers, upskill, or just understand what all the hype around cloud tech is — this post might help you figure out what to look for in the AWS course in Pune (or anywhere, really).
Why I Chose AWS in the First Place
I come from a traditional IT background — mostly desktop support and some basic networking. The pay was decent, but I could tell the industry was shifting fast. Almost every job post I saw had “cloud knowledge” as a bonus or requirement, and AWS kept showing up the most. After doing some reading and watching beginner tutorials, I realized I needed proper guidance. The self-paced route is great, but personally, I needed accountability and hands-on practice.
My Search for the Right Training Center
There are tons of training institutes in Pune offering AWS certification prep. Trust me, I went through at least 10 different websites, YouTube reviews, and even took a few demo sessions before deciding. What helped me narrow it down were a few key things:
Trainer’s actual experience (not just theory knowledge)
-Whether they offered real-time labs and projects
-Support for certification (mock tests, tips, doubts)
-Batch size — smaller is better in my opinion
-Flexibility in timings since I work part-time
Eventually, I enrolled in a center that felt right. It wasn’t the fanciest, but the trainer had worked with AWS professionally and focused a lot on practicals rather than just rushing through the syllabus.
What the Training Was Like
From the first week, we were thrown into the AWS console. No long boring lectures — it was mostly "here's what this service does, now let’s try it ourselves." We started with basics like EC2, S3, IAM, and slowly moved to more advanced topics like VPC, Load Balancers, and RDS.
What I appreciated most was how everything was explained in context. For example, when we learned about S3 bucket policies, we didn't just read them — we applied real scenarios, like giving access to a specific user group or hosting a static website.
The course also included weekly assignments and real-world projects, like creating a multi-tier web app architecture on AWS. These hands-on sessions made me much more confident by the time we reached exam prep.
Certification and Beyond
The course ended with a full week dedicated to certification prep. We had mock exams that mimicked the actual AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate exam pattern. The instructor also gave us tips on how to eliminate options, how to spot traps in questions, and time management strategies.
I took the certification a couple of weeks later and cleared it on the first try. But honestly, the confidence to even attempt it came from the training experience.
My Advice for Anyone Looking to Start
If you’re serious about learning cloud computing, don’t just go by flashy ads or reviews. Take demo sessions. Ask how much of the training is hands-on. Talk to the trainer directly if possible. AWS has a huge ecosystem, and the only way to learn it is by doing — not just watching.
Also, check if the course includes guidance on career paths. Some of my batchmates were interested in DevOps, and our trainer even gave a separate session on how AWS fits into that.
Final Thoughts
Finding the right course can be overwhelming, especially when every institute claims to be the best. But for me, it was all about practical experience, trainer quality, and support beyond the classroom.
I’m not here to advertise any particular institute (unless someone DMs and asks!), but just wanted to say — yes, you can find high-quality AWS training in Pune without burning a hole in your pocket.
