The 2012 Ford Focus Transmission generated more discussion—or controversy—than any of the fleet of little competitors that arose in the early 2010s. Its dual-clutch architecture, which combined efficiency and the driving pleasure of a manual with the ease of an automatic, was fundamentally intended to be a step into the future. Ford's bold response to the growing need for fuel efficiency without compromising driver engagement was this vehicle. However, despite its unquestionably audacious concept, its actual performance swiftly revealed a more nuanced story.
