Malegra 200, which contains sildenafil citrate, interacts with certain medications due to its mechanism of action and how it's metabolized in the body. Malegra 200mg works by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), increasing blood flow to specific areas. However, it is also metabolized by the liver enzyme CYP3A4. Drugs that affect this enzyme, such as erythromycin or ketoconazole, can alter sildenafil levels, leading to increased side effects or reduced effectiveness. Additionally, nitrates used for heart conditions can dangerously lower blood pressure when combined with sildenafil. Other blood pressure medications, alpha-blockers, and protease inhibitors can also cause adverse effects, making careful medical supervision essential.
