Publishing a book for the first time feels like a dream come true, but I’ve heard it can also be a minefield of mistakes if you're not prepared. As a new author, I want to avoid common pitfalls and give my book the best chance of success.
Some mistakes I’ve come across in my research include not hiring a professional editor, overlooking the importance of a strong cover design, and rushing the process without proper planning. I’ve also read that choosing the wrong book publishing services can lead to poor distribution, low-quality printing, or hidden fees.
I’m curious to know—what mistakes did you make (or see others make) when publishing a first book? What lessons did you learn the hard way?
And when it comes to finding reliable book publishing services", what factors should I prioritize? Are there any platforms or companies you would personally recommend?
Your insights and advice would mean a lot to me and, I’m sure, to other first-time authors reading this thread. Let’s learn from each other’s experiences!
