Zopiclone 7.5mg is a non-benzodiazepine sedative and hypnotic used to treat insomnia under the trade names Imovane, Zimovane, and Dopareel, among others. Because of its enjoyable tranquillizing "high," Zopiclone – normally obtained in tablet form – has become well-known as a recreational drug – one of the so-called "Z drugs" category of prescription sedatives – in addition to its medical use. It does, however, have a number of unpleasant and sometimes hazardous side effects, such as drowsiness and impairment of motor abilities, which have been linked to a number of tragic accidents around the world. Furthermore, it is highly addictive, with some users acquiring a zopiclone dependence after only a few weeks of use. In the United Kingdom, zopiclone is a class C prohibited substance that is officially only available by subscription — despite the fact that there is a sizable black market for the drug, with tens of thousands of tablets procured each month via the dark web.
